Junior’s 4 edge sensors detect stairs and sharp drops using infrared light. Because dark carpeting absorbs light, it may confuse Junior’s sensors and register as an edge.
If you notice that Junior stops working on your carpet and displays that he feels “something funny going on" with his edge sensors, then you may need to deactivate them.
To deactivate Junior's edge sensors:
- Hold down the CHECKUP button on Junior’s cover. The 4 ovals at the top of his screen will begin to flash.
- After the 4 ovals stop flashing and remain still, release the CHECKUP button.
While Junior’s edge sensors are disabled, the 4 oval lights at the top of his screen will remain lit. Keep Junior away from stairs and sharp drops, as he will be unable to detect them without his edge sensors.
To reactivate Junior’s edge sensors:
- Hold down the CHECKUP button on Junior’s cover once more. The 4 ovals at the top of his screen will begin to flash again.
- After the 4 ovals stop flashing and disappear, release the CHECKUP button.
Junior will now be able to detect stairs and sharp drops again.
